Composer has two modes, one for working with animations and another for working with views. Views are snapshots of viewport objects, called actors, and their properties.

Views are listed in the Views pane (left side of the Composer window). The toolbox model has four views: </p><p><ul class = "ul"><li class = "li"><span class = "ph uicontrol">initial</span> and 
<span class = "ph uicontrol">exploded</span> are normal views. Normal views capture all properties for all actors. </li><li class = "li"><span class = "ph uicontrol">up</span> and 
<span class = "ph uicontrol">down</span> are custom views. Custom views capture only specified actors and properties and can be applied to normal views to modify them. The thumbnail images for custom views have diagonal lines and shading.
