Publish to Studio

This topic explains how to publish to Studio, and what files are created by the publication.

  1. Click File > Publish > 3DVIA Studio .

    The Publish to 3DVIA Studio dialog box appears.

    Note: The first time you publish to 3DVIA Studio, you are prompted to install vkConverter (a 3DVIA Studio component). See Install vkConverter below.

  2. Choose a location and file name and click Save.

    Publishing to 3DVIA Studio creates the following files:

    File Description
    *.smgStudio.zip Archive file of your Composer document containing the following:
    • project.smgxml (product structure)
    • project.smgView (view definitions)
    • project.mp3d (product geometry in 3DVIA Studio format)
    • Resource files, such as view thumbnail images and linked files
    ComposerPlayerInStudio.mpexp 3DVIA Studio project archive file that lets 3DVIA Studio play Composer documents.

Install vkConverter

The first time you publish to 3DVIA Studio, you are prompted to install vkConverter (a 3DVIA Studio component).

  1. If you are prompted to install vkConverter, click OK, and then double-click InstallVkConverter.bat.

    Administrator rights are required.

    The installation also installs Microsoft DirectX 9.

  2. When the installation of vkConverter completes, publish your document in Composer again.
