Creating and Manipulating Cutting Planes

  1. Create a cutting plane through the center of your model:

    1. Click Author > Cutting Planes > Create .
    2. In the viewport, press Alt to enable curve detection, position your mouse pointer over your model until indicates the correct position (alignment does not matter), and then click.

      Tip: You can reposition the cutting plane after creating it with Move Cutting Plane .

  2. In the Properties pane, for Axis, select the alignment you want.

  3. Click Author > Cutting Planes > Create and Add to create a second cutting plane.

  4. Click Author > Cutting Planes > Union Mode to toggle between a thin cut and a thick cut.

  5. Drag the edge of the second cutting plane to rotate to achieve a 45-degree cross section.

    Tip: To create a 90-degree cut, set the Axis property for the second cutting plane.

  6. For each cutting plane, in the Properties pane, set the Opacity to 0 and Capping > Color to the same color.

  7. If you want only some actors to be cut:

    1. Select the actors you want to cut.
    2. Click Author > Cutting Planes > Apply to Selection .
